it’s none of your business

What others think of you is none of your business and their opinion of you does not define you.

If you find yourself worrying about what people think of you, you’re not alone. But living your life through the lens of other people’s opinions can be debilitating. It often leads to people pleasing, self-doubt and denying your own truth. It can stop you from speaking up, showing up and living honestly and on the whole it can quietly shrink your world.

One of the best things you can do for yourself is to free yourself from that worry. And we can do that by remembering that people judge others through their own experiences, by their own beliefs and behaviours. This judgement and their opinion has nothing to do with you because it’s not your story, it’s theirs. What others think of you says more about them than it does about you.

Often, the real struggle isn’t other people’s opinions — it’s the inner voice that questions:
“Am I too much?”
“Did I say the wrong thing?”
“What if they judge me?”

You are not here to be understood by everyone. You are here to be true to yourself. And when we find ourselves in this spiral the work that we need to do isn’t about controlling opinions.

It’s about strengthening your relationship with yourself.

Other people’s judgement is not a reflection of your worth.

One small shift that helps:
Instead of asking “What will they think?”
Try asking “What feels true for me?”

Confidence doesn’t come from being liked by everyone. It comes from trusting yourself enough to be who you are — even when that feels uncomfortable.

This is the kind of work I support my clients with in coaching:
• quietening the inner critic
• building self-trust
• and learning to live more freely and authentically

If this is something you would like to work on you’re very welcome to get in touch or book a call to explore coaching together.
